Today I am beginning my "delights". I am so grateful for so many things! First, My sweet, supportive husband who brings me JOY every day. We have celebrated fifty years together and I still love our journey. Second, is my precious children who put up with this old lady. They are always helping us and cheering us on. I am so proud of the wonderful people they have become. Third is my marvelous grandchildren who bust my buttons with their accomplishments. I love our family dinners and parties. I know that families are everything. I am blessed!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-5077242198809385112017-03-08T19:25:00.004-08:002017-03-08T19:25:52.539-08:00Dear to my HeartI was able to get chores done early and I was ready for games with my grandson. He is a real game player! He surprises me because he takes turns, and is a good sport. That is pretty good for a 4 year old . We have lots of fun and I love to her him chatter to us during the game. After games he and his Dad began building Pinewood Derby cars. Grandpa even let him use one of the machines.
I was able to meet my sister-in-law for lunch today. She is dear to me and we had a great visit. She is quite a courageous lady. I am so thankful to have special people in my life to bring joy. I am blessed!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-16214718941443137572017-03-07T08:12:00.000-08:002017-03-07T08:12:26.199-08:00Daily ProgressI had an early morning doctor's appointment and my sweet hubby offered to drive. The roads were clear and I think the snow plows had done their job during the night. I don't need to continue the medication for my microscopic colitis and I don't need to make any appointments. Hallelujah! We ran a few errands and then I made Chicken piccata and vegetables for lunch. After lunch I made Chicken Tortilla soup for dinner. Frank used the family room to build a mini Pinewood Derby track, so I chilled out with a few of my own projects. We enjoyed a quiet evening watching "Home Alone". I love having days like this!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-18921717357591578662017-03-06T19:46:00.004-08:002017-03-06T19:46:40.240-08:00Day of RestWe were up early and ready for Church. Frank only after the Sacrament because he went to the airport to pick up Todd/s family from their Florida vacation. we had good meetings today. We went Home Teaching to Shirley and Natalie. It was a quiet afternoon and our Home Teachers came too. Todd's family came for dinner. We had grilled cheese sandwiches and then watched some of their pictures from the trip. We got a game of Pinochle in before they left. We had 50-60 mile and hour winds that brought in a lot of snow. They got hoe safely and Alan made it home safely too. Today would have been my parents 74th wedding anniversary. I got morning chores finished, went to the grocery store, worked on my daughter's quilt, and prepared things for Sunday. It felt so good to be ahead of the game! We had a quiet afternoon and evening and I felt refreshed. It was a wonderful day and then I got one of the best night's sleep in a long time. JOY!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-77422354630217510192017-03-04T11:31:00.003-08:002017-03-04T11:31:52.103-08:00Delightful Time with GrandchildrenToday is our oldest grandson's 20th Birthday! I'm not that old am I? I enjoyed having our youngest grandson sleep over. We took him to Discovery Gateway and he had a blast. I wish I had the energy of a four year old! He said he loved the construction area, the water play, the farm, and the grocery store the best. We went to get food at Arctic Circle with a play place. He loved the corn dog and playing with the other children. We got home and had ice cream and were just starting a game of Candyland when our granddaughter came with a friend. They wanted ice cream too. They played Candyland with us, and then wanted to play Pinochle . We had a lot of fun! Our son got home from his business trip and he and his fiancee came for dinner and more Pinochle. Our grandson loves to "play" with us. They all left about 8 pm and we enjoyed some quiet time before bed. I am so blessed to have time with family!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-15407566570962415652017-03-03T08:47:00.002-08:002017-03-03T08:47:56.214-08:00ContentmentI am getting closer to finishing my daughter's quilt. It is exciting to see that something I have created is almost ready to give away. We will be gaining a beautiful new daughter-in-law in May and it was fun to have her here last night. Our four year old grandson is always a delight! We watched Finding Nemo before bed and then played a few rounds of Apples to Apples. I also had a little time with my hubby. I am enjoying my days filled with things that are most important. Happy Days!
I've been working in desperation. Today I am trying to get back on plan to follow the priorities. I made Beef Stew that is in the crockpot for dinner tonight. Our future daughter-in-law is bringing our four year grandson for a sleepover while his Dad is in Las Vegas on a business trip. It will be fun to have her join us for dinner. Yesterday I put away Valentine's decorations and put out St. Patrick's day decor. We have been having some beautiful, sunshiny days this week.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-31734147421901425172017-03-02T09:55:00.004-08:002017-03-02T09:55:25.955-08:00Celebrate!I had a lot to celebrate today. My four year old grandson was here and we had fun playing Candyland. He is such a joy to have around. My son and his fiancee have set a date for May and we are so excited for them! My son, grandson, and I went to visit my daughter at her work to wish her a Happy Birthday. It was delightful! Great fun to hear my little grandson sing Happy Birthday. I had a little tie to myself in the afternoon and I loved it! I also had some time for a movie in the evening while my hubby went to the Temple. I am thankful I am blessed with happy days!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-6280053613491296852017-02-25T11:27:00.003-08:002017-02-26T13:20:20.155-08:00Joy in the MorningI have been so excited to get up in the morning to get my day started! I have fun projects to work on and I feel better too. I am finishing a quilt sometime next week and it has taken 1 1/2 years, About time! I am also doing family history. Its a little slow, but very exciting. In the afternoon I rest by watching Hallmark movies. I m enjoying my retirement! I appreciate all of my blessings that make each day better than ever! We completed our income taxes, so we celebrated by having steaks for dinner. We watched some old movies and then they delivered the Girl Scout cookies that Frank sold. He sold 372 boxes this year. Fun evening!
It's going to take time to get use to this keyboard, but I'm eager to progress. I have been quilting, cleaning, and spending time with my sweetheart. That is happiness! I am trying to keep up with my New Year's resolution to improve each day. I gained some inspiration to read scriptures in a different way and I'm so excited to do it. I also have been excited because I have redone my closet and I love it. I hope to finish a quilt next week and that will be a big accomplishment for me. Day by day I gain happiness!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-89376501130105044152017-02-22T08:54:00.001-08:002017-02-22T08:54:25.262-08:00I was able to spend the morning with Frank. He went on his work calls and then we went to a viewing for Norma Stuehser. She and her husband Al were camp hosts at the Spruces for many years. We also saw many of the other Hosts that we have made friends with in the past few years. When we got home I went to the store for medications and other necessities. We had Hawaiian Haystacks for lunch and then I watched a Hallmark movie. I rested. Frank was at the Church in the evening, so I watched another Hallmark movie.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-46383231803969648422017-02-22T08:49:00.003-08:002017-02-22T08:49:41.106-08:00I am so blessed and full of gratitude. Monday was busy and successful. We had our Family Home Evening for the Single Seniors. We had 29 in attendance and enjoyed Hawaiian Haystacks for lunch. Patriarch Bawden gave a lovely lesson. I was able to rest a little in the afternoon, and then prepared for the Mills brothers for a family dinner. It was a lovely evening. These in-laws of mine are fabulous!
He has done the laundry for years. I know I get clean clothes on Monday and clean sheets on Friday. I have really appreciated his help when I have been sick lately. We have a lot of fun together and he is my best friend. Today I have found JOY in sewing, sending St. Patrick's Day cards to grandsons, watching rain and snow, and finishing chores. I called a friend, made appointments, and enjoyed resting a little. Good day today!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-39293583812568909892016-02-24T16:05:00.000-08:002016-02-24T16:05:33.360-08:00Still hereStill hanging in there and its almost Spring! I have had bouts with sinus infection and allergies. I haven't got as much energy as I'd like. BUT I am so blessed! I have enjoyed cleaning my house and decluttering, organizing lots of household activities, and even cleaning my scrapbook room. I need to finish sewing quilts for my daughters, make scrapbooks of photos for my children, and start getting the motorhome ready for the coming summer. I am in the process of addressing my sleep apnea, developing a healthier diet, and trying to get a little exercise in along the way. I guess I've been hanging in there very nicely!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-89185925900722305972016-01-01T19:25:00.002-08:002016-01-01T19:25:37.324-08:00GratitudeI have really enjoyed this holiday season. I didn't do Thanksgiving dinner here, so we went to Lori's home for dinner. It was wonderful! She asked me to make the stuffing and everyone else contributed to the meal too. In the afternoon we went home and took a nap. We went to Rose Park to share a dinner with Donna's family. It was very interesting and delicious.
Christmas was especially satisfying this year. We got neighbor gifts done early, cards mailed out early, decorations done early, and gifts wrapped early. It was wonderful! We enjoyed going to concerts with our grandchildren performing, family parties, parties with friends, watching Christmas movies and getting some relaxation time. I am so blessed! I am truly thankful for my family and friends that make this season so special. I am so thankful for the birth of our Savior and his willingness to die for me. That is the greatest gift of all.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-77470341853134458482015-09-20T19:00:00.000-07:002015-09-20T19:00:13.280-07:00It's Past Labor Day...I thought things would calm down after Labor Day. HAHA! The joke's on me. I had an infection and was on TWO antibiotics for 10 days. I haven't been able to have any milk products. Today was the last day--Yeah! Tomorrow I get milk on my cereal! We are going to be enjoying a short vacation and then maybe I will really get back to a schedule. I have my new sewing room to finish setting up and my scrapbook room to overhaul. I have family pictures to organize. I have my recipes to re-organize. Hopefully it will keep me busy all winter.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-27623376008327704162015-08-19T14:52:00.001-07:002015-08-19T14:52:30.650-07:00Still hereI have had one of the busiest, funnest, most enjoyable summers ever. Grandsons from Maryland, littlest on the bow hunt, teenagers ready for fun, and lots of family time have kept us going. I'm almost excited for Labor Day.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-90501222081673092222015-04-07T17:12:00.002-07:002015-04-07T17:12:47.391-07:00Blessings of SpringI have enjoyed the beauty of this time of year and we are getting such a lovely spring this year. I love the blossoms and the flowers and the greening trees--even though I have allergies.
I love the message of LDS Conference this past weekend. They were uplifting and testified the truth of the Gospel.
I love the daylight that lasts closer to my bedtime. I love the feeling of renewal and hope for the future. I love Spring!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-11042383160090080452015-02-18T15:46:00.001-08:002015-02-18T15:46:37.483-08:00Still hereJust a note that I'm alive and kicking. I've been trying to repurpose my blog writing. I guess I need a passion to write about. Let's see-- gas prices, house remodeling, cooking, TV shows, old movies, grandkids, my budget. Nothing stands out so I guess I'll go back to thinking again. Smile!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-32312603392641454962014-12-31T09:20:00.001-08:002014-12-31T09:20:13.115-08:00Heading into the New YearIt has been a busy but lovely two months. I have enjoyed the Holidays so much. Thanksgiving was delightful with only Todd's and Alan's families. We enjoyed leftover with Mark's family. I had my Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving and have enjoyed it all season. We mailed Christmas for Amie's family the week after Thanksgiving. I enjoyed Christmas shopping, mailing out cards the first week of December, and delivering neighbor gifts by the tenth of the month. I love the music, parties, Christmas movies, and time with family and friends. Christmas was delightful. We had the whole family and it was marvelous. We even squeezed in a Birthday dinner for yours truly. It has been a good year in general, and I am looking forward to an even better year in 2015.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-42049676678213648332014-11-03T12:51:00.001-08:002014-11-03T12:51:51.158-08:00Finally NovemberI guess I spaced October, although it was a pretty good month--loved the weather. We had one of the warmest Halloween's ever, and sat on the front porch to hand out candy.
I have packed away the Halloween decorations and put out the Thanksgiving things. I love Thanksgiving! I also love Christmas music and movies, and I have already started enjoying them because there is so much. I am also eager to begin Christmas shopping. I am so blessed and I enjoy being reminded of the many blessings that I have received. It's finally November!
It was a fun, busy summer and we got in camping trips, picnics, reunions--three of them, and lots of warm weather.
We have enjoyed the busy time and have even had a few accomplishments. We survived the Bow Hunt and taking care of our little grandson. It was a beautiful place with millions of little daisies covering the mountainside and valley. We had a delightful week at the Spruces for the Mills Reunion. We had a Reunion of the Hawarden Park Ward Singles--many married now. It was great fun to see everyone! We also had a Bradford Reunion and had all but seven of the cousins there. It was fun to visit and see all the pictures they have collected. We went to the Ogden Temple Open House and the Utah State Fair too.
I colored my grey hair brown and it seems to be a good choice for me. I have been doing a little more walking and the scales look a little better. I am trying to do more genealogy and family history and that is exciting. I am also finishing a quilt for my son and his wife. It will be so good to have it done. I am so blessed to have so many family and friends that we have been able to spend time with this summer. Life is good!LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-16963080356509090382014-06-24T17:03:00.000-07:002014-06-24T17:03:51.135-07:00HobbiesI am so thankful for hobbies that bring fun and excitement to my day. I love reading, quilting, scrapbooking, Scripture study, time with family and friends, playing games, and camping. I also enjoy movies and cooking shows. I always get more done in a day if I have some hobby projects to work on. I'm thankful that there are so many interests that can enrich our lives and bring joy to others too.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-277664367002664402.post-31471434184630070902014-06-23T10:15:00.000-07:002014-06-23T10:15:02.450-07:00Thankful for extended FamilyYesterday we loved being with Frank's family. They are so close--we have gotten together about once a month for over 42 years. We are also having a Mills Family picnic tonight. Everyone brings food and we enjoy visiting and sometimes games. My sister-in-laws are such awesome ladies and I'm thankful I am a part of such a special family. I can't wait for our yearly reunion at the Spruces in August.LaVonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10365836098919966296noreply@blogger.com0
