Grandma's Delights

I have loved reading some wonderful blogs in the past few years. Today I am beginning my "delights". I am so grateful for so many things! First, My sweet, supportive husband who brings me JOY every day. We have celebrated fifty years together and I still love our journey. Second, is my precious children who put up with this old lady. They are always helping us and cheering us on. I am so proud of the wonderful people they have become.  Third is my marvelous grandchildren who bust my buttons with their accomplishments.  I love our family dinners and parties. I know that families are everything.  I am blessed!

Dear to my Heart

I was able to get chores done early and I was ready for games with my grandson.  He is a real game player!  He surprises me because he takes turns, and is a good sport.  That is pretty good for a 4 year old .  We have lots of fun and I love to her him chatter to us during the game.  After games he and his Dad began building Pinewood Derby cars. Grandpa even let him use one of the  machines.
I was able to meet my sister-in-law for lunch today.  She is dear to me and we had a great visit.  She is quite a courageous lady. I am so thankful to have special people in my life to bring joy.  I am blessed!

Daily Progress

I had an early morning  doctor's appointment and my sweet hubby offered to drive. The roads were clear and I think the snow plows had done their job during the night. I don't need to continue the medication for my microscopic colitis and I don't need  to make any appointments. Hallelujah!  We ran a few errands and then I made Chicken piccata and vegetables for lunch.  After lunch I made Chicken Tortilla soup for dinner. Frank used the family room to build a mini Pinewood Derby track, so I chilled out with a few of my own projects.  We enjoyed a quiet evening watching "Home Alone".  I love having days like this!

Day of Rest

We were up early and ready for Church.  Frank only  after the Sacrament because he went to the airport to pick  up Todd/s family from their Florida vacation. we had good meetings today.  We went Home Teaching to Shirley and Natalie.  It was a quiet afternoon and our Home Teachers came too. Todd's family came for dinner.  We had grilled cheese sandwiches and then watched some of their pictures from the trip.  We got a game of Pinochle in before they left.  We had 50-60 mile and hour winds that brought in a lot of snow. They got hoe safely and Alan made it home safely too. Today would have been my parents 74th wedding anniversary.  Memories...

Recuperation and Joy

After my busy day yesterday I was ready to catch my breath. I got morning chores finished, went to the grocery store, worked on my daughter's quilt, and prepared things for Sunday.  It felt so good to be ahead of the game! We had a quiet afternoon and evening and I felt refreshed. It was a wonderful day and then I got one of the best night's sleep in a long time. JOY!

Delightful Time with Grandchildren

Today is our oldest grandson's 20th Birthday!  I'm not that old am I?  I enjoyed having our youngest grandson sleep over.  We took him to Discovery Gateway and he had a blast.  I wish I had the energy of a four year old!  He said he loved the construction area, the water play, the farm, and the grocery store the best.  We went to get food at Arctic Circle with a play place.  He loved the corn dog and playing with the other children.  We got home and had ice cream and were just starting a game of Candyland when our granddaughter came with a friend.  They wanted ice cream too.  They played Candyland with us, and then wanted to play Pinochle .  We had a lot of fun! Our son got home from his business trip and he and his fiancee came for dinner and more Pinochle.  Our grandson loves to  "play" with us. They all left about 8 pm and we enjoyed some quiet time before bed.  I am so blessed to have time with family!

Contentment

I am getting closer to finishing my daughter's quilt.  It is exciting to see that something I have created is almost ready to give away. We will be gaining a beautiful new daughter-in-law in May and it was fun to have her here last night. Our four year old grandson is always a delight!  We watched Finding Nemo before bed and then played a few rounds of Apples to Apples.  I also had a little time with my hubby. I am enjoying my days filled with things that are most important. Happy Days!
