Having FUN!!!

I love being able to watch the snow and not have to get out in it. I love to hibernate at home in the winter. Today I had a healthy breakfast (oatmeal with flax and cinnamon), got out Wii Fit and started my exercise plan ( lost 6 lbs since my last visit), showered and dressed, worked in my sewing room ( cleaned out the sewing table drawers, set up a mini-office with paper, 3x5 cards, rulers, paper clips, etc so I have them close at hand when I need them, put up the 2010 calendar, added a clock to the wall so that I can keep better track of time when I sew (its a Kinkcade clock, awesome),made a file for sewing information, patterns, etc, and cleaned up clutter), deep cleaned the bathrooms ( ouch! my light once-overs didn't do the trick), and planned the rest of my week. Today there was no boredom!!!
This afternoon I'm making a dessert for our New Year's party with Frank's brothers. I'm also going to work on a picture puzzle and hopefully do some reading. My reward: Chocolate of course! We also get to go to Highland, Utah tonight for a wedding reception. HOpe the roads are clear by then! Happy end of 2009!

Preparing for a New Year

These days between Christmas and New Year's are delightful because: I can sleep in without guilt, work on picture puzzles throughout the day, nibble on goodies (no calories until January 1), spend time with hubby, play with grandchildren, play games throughout the day, laugh over silly things, throw away or give away things we don't need, clean the sewing room in preparation of 2010 projects, read the newspaper, listen to Christmas music (Yes, still), prepare new calendars, and plan resolutions. I decided I will make new resolutions on the first of each month, not just for the year. Shorter term resolutions will have a better chance of being kept. I also love the idea from the newspaper of shredding everything you don't want from 2009--old bills, sorrows, failures, etc. I think I may have a few of those too.
I am also organizing materials to help me study the Old Testament. This is my least understood area and I hope to gain an appreciation in my scripture study this year. That will be my resolution for the year I guess. I'm so thankful for the blessings I have. Gratitude is the thing that teaches me how many blessings I really have. I have the most wonderful family and friends that make getting up everyday a joy. Happy New Year to you all!!!

A Merry Christmas

Christmas day was so delightful. I love the grandkids laughing and squealing over their gifts. My homemade quilts were ooohed and aaahed over and I was pleased that my efforts we appreciated. We laughed and visited--lots of fun stories exchanged. Everything went well and my hubby said "You did good".
Today we slept in and have puttered around. WE also watched a new video and did a little cleaning. I feel very satisfied. I'm especially thankful for the life of the Savior and the blessings He has given us. I truly try to use the gift of repentance daily. I'm also looking forward to the beginning of a New Year. Hopefully, I will continue to learn and grow more like the Savior.
Merry Christmas....and a Happy coming New Year.

Merry Christmas

I have REALLY enjoyed December this year. I've had fun making gifts, time with grandchildren and watching their Christmas programs, seeing Zoolights, watching Christmas movies, listening to lots of Christmas music, participating in Sub for Santa, and reading Christmas stories.
I love this time of year! Thanks to all who have been part of my special December.
Merry Christmas to all!!!
By the way, I had lots of fun pictures to post, but somehow they disappeared. I'll take more and hopefully not lose them.

December

I guess time goes faster when you have lots of things to do. Last Friday we had our Adult Family party and it was fun and we had plenty of food. Saturday morning was the Family Children's party. We made snowmen, snowflakes, piggy banks, designed our own mug, and lots of visiting. Santa came after lunch and I think fun was had by all. Then we went to our Ward Christmas party and had a wonderful dinner and a visit from Santa.
Sunday was our Stake Christmas program. It really filled us with the Christmas spirit. Famliy also came with us. On snowy Monday I finished most of my sewing projects, on Tuesday I finished Visiting Teaching and finished my shopping. Wednesday brought a delightful luncheon with friends and a trip to ZOOlights with some of my grandchildren. That was way cool and clever. Loved the Siberian tigers! They put on quite a performance and we loved it.
Thursday brought grandchildren performing--singing at Truman, orchestra performance in the afternoon, and another granddaughter's choir in the evening. The Christmas spirit has been strong today. I'm so blessed to be able to participate in these activities that enrich my holiday season. I've also enjoyed reading scriptures daily about the Savior, his birth and his mission and sacrifice for us. No wonder this is my favorite time of year.

Yep! I still here...

Busy time of year and I'm enjoying it to the fullest. I'm sewing, watching old Christmas movies while I work, making Sloppy Joes and Spaghetti sauce for our weekend parties, and shopping for Christmas. I even wrapped a few. I also enjoyed Quilt Club, attending the Salt Lake Temple, having Visiting Teaching and Home Teaching here for dinner, time with grandkids, and planning for Mills' Parties. Now I can PARTY all weekend!!!! Hope your weekend is delightful too!

Christmas spirit

I'm not one to enjoy snow unless I'm inside. It does give us that White Christmas spirit though. We enjoyed a few grandchildren overnight. It was a lot of fun. We played hide and seek in the basement with flashlights. Delightful!! We made paper airplanes--lots of them. We had waffles with ice cream. As long as I can play with them I will be young at heart.
I have been binding a quilt for Quilt Club. It's not quite finished, but I think I will have it done in time. I made two of the blocks and hope to get one more done. Learning! I also have a few more Christmas gifts to make--then shopping too. This coming week We have our Home Teaching--Visiting Teaching dinner, Temple night at the Salt Lake Temple, a night with a grandson, the Mills Adult Party, the Mills Children's Party, and our Ward Party. Take a deep breath and RUN!! I love the Christmas season!
