If I must.....

Guilt rules right now. I haven't felt very ambitious this week. I'm not sick, but I sure don't have energy. I've allowed myself to cut back a bit and go with the flow for a bit. We had such a nice weekend and Monday was also great. President Christensen's class is always delightful and then we went out to dinner with Frank's brothers. Tuesday I did the minimum and also went to lunch with a daughter. That was really fun. Today I got my hair done (best time of the week), and spent some time with a granddaughter. Tonight is Quilting class. I haven't done any sewing, so I'll have to pick up where I left off. Tomorrow I go to a new doctor--my fourth in three years. Onward.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Yesterday I remembered I would have grandchildren for the weekend. I went to the store to prepare for meals that would be easy. Good idea! Hubby and I met our daughters and grandson for lunch at Cafe Rio. Yummy!! It's been ages since we got together. We brought our grandson home with us. Later in the afternoon we greeted three other grandchildren. Our adventure was started. They played and enjoyed each other so much. We had grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner and they went back to playing. We watched Monsters, Inc. and they played some more. Enjoyed the traditional ice cream treat too. Then bedtime--they did a terrific job and we got to sleep at decent hour.
This morning we had sourdough waffles with ice cream. That is quickly becoming a tradition too. They had a lot of fun playing. I'm so glad they enjoy each other so much. Some of us watched "Mary Poppins". They hadn't seen it, so it was fresh and new to them. We played games a little too.
Tonight I get to go to the Relief Society dinner and Conference. I made soup for that and for us. I'm glad to get time to go and enjoy the spirit. I hope you have a great Saturday too.

There's Always Tomorrow

I slept very well last night and enjoyed fixing breakfast for my hubby. No walk today, but I thinki I'll get my exercise shopping. Got my hair done--one of the best parts of the week. Then I took our old DVR to FedEx for return. We got a new one and they charge you $480 if you don't return the old one. Of course, that was right by JoAnn's. I needed to get fleece for our November activity and its on sale for 50% off. I had other coupons so I had to get a few more things. Went home and prepared lunch--pull out all the leftovers. After lunch I went to Smith's for a prescription--15 minute wait. I did some shopping so we would have something different for dinner. I'm trying a casserole with chicken and noodles Italian style. I also got ingredients for my soup for Saturday. Tonight we go to the new Church History Museum. Anything I didn't get done today can just get done tomorrow!

ok I'll write.....

Slept in this morning and had a hurried breakfast of oatmeal and fruit before hubby left for work. After my shower I was reaedy for a walk. It's kind of fun to be able to walk later and not have it too hot. Gorgeous blue sky today. I did chores and sewed for a while. It's nice to just do what you want sometimes. I'm also reading library books, so its a good day. Tonight is quilting class and a Stake Primary meeting. ok...I wrote today. Have a good one!

Pushing Forward

Yesterday my computer froze, so I didn't get to post. It was a great day! I went for my walk, enjoyed a good breakfast, got some bills paid, and talked to my daughter and grandsons. Then hubby came home and said we could go to one of his customers for an open-house luncheon. We had fun seeing their products and enjoyed BBQ hamburgers and the trimmings. When we got home I hurried to get ready to go to our BYU class. It was delightful and answered some questions I had.
I did get a little sewing done--at least until the bobbin ran out of thread. When Frank got home we left for Snowbird to ride the Tram. It was gorgeous! When we got to the top we could see Heber Valley, American Fork Twin Peaks, and the Salt Lake Valley. The leaves have started to turn in a few areas and the reds were especially beautiful.
Today I took another sunrise walk and remembered to wear a sweater. This is certainly fall weather. When I got home hubby had prepared breakfast and we enjoyed it together. I typed up my class notes to share with the principal at Bennion where I taught. I took them over to him this afternoon and he was elated. I also went to the library to see if I could find a caertain book. I didn't find what I wanted, but I did get some quilting books and the book "Wicked". I have been curious about that book, and even wrote me a note to read it yesterday. Today it practically jumped off the shelf. When will I find time to read? Tonight is our Visiting Teaching dinner and I really enjoy those. If I'm lucky I might even get to the sewing machine this afternoon.

Lovely Sabbath

I got to visit 12th Ward for a few minutes--but their Primary program is NEXT week. It was nice to get a little longer at home today. I attended the 25th Ward Primary program and it was very good. Then I drove into Rose Park to see Jordaqn and Tanner in their program. Great fun! Then I went back to Hawarden Park for Relief Society. Terrific lesson on friendship. At home again I prepared for dinner. Mark and Todd's families came. Delightful evening with hugs from the kids. NOw I can catch my breath and look forward to a busy week. That is always a good thing and I'm so glad my health is good at this time. Tomorrow I get to go to President Christensen's class and I'm eager to learn more about the Sermon on the Mount. Hope you have a great week too.

New Progress

I'm working on some new goals to improve my health. Last night I did not sleep until...well, early this morning. Hubby let me sleep until 10 am. We had a late breakfast and then I did the grocery shopping. I'm always saying I'll eat more vegetables, so today I bought a veggie tray, salad mix, and a variety of frozen veggies that I can prepare quickly. We did some shopping at Sam's Club and then I prepared lunch. The salad was fresh and yummy. I also washed all of the fruit and put it in a basket on the table. Yay for progress. Hopefully I'll be able to develop some better habits. This evening is a Ward activity and it should be fun too. Onward weekend!

Weekend Already!

This week just disappeared. Today I finished my blocks for my crazy quilt. Now I just need to put it all together. I have also cut out my next quilt. Always more to do when you are into quilting! I also finished a book my daughter-in-law loaned me. I took notes and then got on line and ordered it. It has some similar ideas with a red binder book I have, but I like the plan. It's main goal is to help you be healthier. I'm always eager for better health. This weekend is quieter than last weekend, so maybe I'll get to sew a little as well. TGIF everyone!

Delightful Day

I started the day getting my hair cut and styled. Always a highlight of my week. Then I went to JoAnn's for some fabric and found a quilting frame I liked. I had a 50% off coupon, so I got it. FUN!!! I came home ready to sew. I now have 12 blocks for my crazy quilt--only a few more! My husband invited me to go downtown to the Children's Center so he could deliver some "emergency" office supplies. I told him I would stay and sew, but then relented and went with him. The Sizzler is next to the Children's Center, so we went out to lunch. FUN!!! When I got home I did finish some sewing. Surprises can really improve your attitude in a hurry. I hope you've had a delightful day too.

Where's Tuesday???

It's already Wednesday. I had to stop and think about what happened yesterday that I didn't write. I did some shopping for material for quilts (of course) and sewed for awhile. I prepared dinner for hubby's home teaching group--and we had a great time! I don't even remember what else kept me so busy. Oh, we did vote--we were numbers 22 and 23. Not many voters out. I did notice in the unofficial results that two of Frank's former scouts are running for Mayor--one in Bluffdale and one in Tooele. Interesting!
Today I slept in again. I got my material ready for quilting class tonight. I also finished a book so I can return it. My daughter-in-law also loaned me another book that I have to get back to her by Monday. I feel like I'm running from one thing to another. At least I'm having FUN doing it.

Days are Flying By

Saturday was a delightful day. We ate, attended weddings and receptions, and ate some more. Wonderful day. Sunday was wonderful too as I attended the Primary Sacrament meetings in two Wards. Then I went to our Ward block and enjoyed that too. When I got home there was a note on my counter telling me that our son and his wife were bringing us dinner for Grandparents Day. A delightful surprise and greatly appreciated. We also played games and had a good visit.
Today I was enjoying the sunrise with my walk. The days are certainly getting shorter. I got my kitchen cleaned and did some grocery shopping. Then I enjoyed a BYU--Adult Religion class. The instructor is very entertaining, funny, and certainly teaches the gospel. I think I am going to really enjoy the class and will obviously learn alot in the process. Tonight I will get a chance to do some quilt sewing. That makes the day just about perfect.

Weekend Wonders

Last night we had a delightful evening with our son and his family. Our granddaughter came in and gave me a big hug and asked if we had had dinner yet. We quickly made pancakes and she helped me get it ready. After dinner they watched a movie and then we all played six-handed Pinochle. It was an unexpected surprise and made it a delightful time.
This morning we slept in--both of us! We had a late breakfast. Frank changed the oil in our son's car and I made two more quilt blocks. Wahoo! I think I'm getting the hang of it.
Today we have a wedding luncheon at 1 pm, a wedding in Sandy at 3 pm, and two receptions tonight. Tomorrow I have two Primary Sacrament meetings and then my regular block of meetings. The Primary children are the best. Those meetings are so enjoyable. I hope your weekend is delightful too.

Random thoughts

Yesterday I didn't even look at my schedule. I read, sewed, watched TV, and had a great day. I even slept for 9 1/2 hours last night. Today I have sewn pockets on my canvas purse for my keys and cell phone. Now I can find them and don't have to empty my purse to find them. I have also finished a quilt square for quilting club and a square for my next quilt. Wahoo!! Maybe I'll sew again this afternoon. Have a fun Friday!
I also am thankful to see a flag on my front lawn today. I am reminded of the many things that happened eight years ago. Our life has changed a lot because of 9/11. Basically our national security has made huge changes, especially in air flights. We, as Americans, must always remember that our life must be to serve one another. That great message brought hundreds of stories of service as did Hurrican Katrina. We must remember our service men and women, public employees like police and firemen, and those we love. We can carry on a great legacy of service and strive to be like the greatest servant of all, Jesus Christ. I'm glad to be an American and also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Those are two of the greatest blessings of all. Have a great Patriot's Day.

Another Try

Yesterday I tried to post and my computer went haywire. The page would jump all over and when I tried to type it logged out and I couldn't get back. So here is another try. So far, so good. Yesterday I enjoyed lunch with my dear friends at Smashburgers. The food was excellent and it was a fun atmosphere. The place got PACKED quickly, so we were glad we went early. I did a little work on quilt blocks and decided to wait until class tonight so I can figure it out.
Class was fun and I learned what I was doing wrong. Yay! We had our Ward Temple social and enjoyed some great people.
This morning I slept in and had to dash so I could stop at Schmidt's Bakery for eclairs to celebrate my friend's birthday. Delish breakfast! We are taking hubby's car in to get a new windshield to day and tonight is FHE. Being busy is fun!
Now I logged on and ALL of the blogs I follow are erased. I have to start all over. I hate this new computer!

September Moving In

I went for a COOL walk this morning. It was so beautiful and you can definately feel fall in the air. We had a lot of fun yesterday with six grandkids and four children and spouses for our BBQ. It is so fun to hear them laugh and tease as they play games. Today I have tried to get caught up with the house and picked up prescriptions. The Smith's store has made a lot of changes. It is very nice, but it's going to take awhile to be able to find things.
Tonight we are going to the Temple because we have other things going on our regular Temple night tomorrow. We will still do the Social at 9:30 pm, and it is always fun to relax and visit. September here I come!

Labor Day

I've done some last minute grocery shopping to get ready for our family BBQ. After I cleaned the kitchen, I had time to read the paper. However, hubby has really been the "laborer". He has vaccuumed the family room, pulled weeds, cleaned the picnic tables, changed sheets (our new ones are on now), done laundry, and got things prepared to cook hamburgers and hotdogs. Most of it done while I did the groceries. We will have a fun day and a good visit! I hope your Labor Day is delightful too.

Saturday already??? YES!!!

I can't believe I haven't posted since Wednesday. Thursday was hair day--best time of the week! Enjoyed solving world problems plus. I did some shopping--we're trying to find some flannel sheets. It's hard to do right now because they say they don't come out until October. Oh well. In the evening we went to the Humanitarian Center and put together school kits for Zambobwe and some other African nations. Lots of fun!
TGIF!! Slept in and had a late breakfast--Frank took the day off. We went to the Zoo and enjoyed the animals and the Bird Show. We went home for lunch and a nap, and then headed up to Snowbird. We were able to get into our room early. We got settled and then walked up to the Snowbird Center to see the sights. It started to rain, so we just watched for awhile and then walked back to our room. We played games and then freshened up for dinner. We ate at the Steak Pit--very nice. We had a cute waiter that seemed to enjoy visiting with us. Frank had sirloin steak and I had scallops--my first time and I liked them. We walked back to our room--the rain had stopped. We sat out on the deck for awhile and then watched some TV. We were in bed by 9:15 pm. I slept until 6, but we laid in bed until after 7 am. We showered and dressed and walked back to the Snowbird Center for breakfast. We ate at the Folklift. We had excellent omelets, hash browns, ninegrain toast, mmmmm, and milk. It was raining again--today is the beginning of Oktober Fest. We decided to skip the Tram ride for now--we'll go back when its sunny. We rode up to Alta and then headed home. We went to JC Penney's and found flannel sheets at 50% off. Frank also got shoes and ties so it was a good shopping trip. Then home at last--it always is good to get home. We enjoyed our little break and the time we had together.

Wednesday????

Didn't sleep last night and got a late start to my day. I decided I would "take the day off". I did chores and then read scriptures, watched TV, went through some more keepsakes, and enjoyed the morning. I did grocery shopping this afternoon--not much food after I cleaned out the fridge. Tonight hubby has Church meetings, so I get to have free choice. Ahhhh! What to do???

Terrific Tuesday

I woke up early enough for a good walk in the bright, fresh morning air. It made such a good start to the day. I enjoyed creamed tuna and peas on toast for breakfast, one of my old favorites. I had my chores done by 10 am. WAHOO!! I made some phone calls and spent some time going through some of the boxes with my mother's things. I found a paper from the City-County building that showed they had paid $10 for the Warranty Deed for their lot and could build a home. The home loan was for $7,350 dollars. It was recorded on September 1st, 1948. That was 61 years ago today. I kind of liked that.
Then I went to lunch with my daughter. We went to Bankok Thai and had a fabulous Pad Thai noodle dish with chicken and shrimp. Mmmm!!! Now I'm enjoying QUIET afternoon. My quilt block is ready to square and then I think I'll read for awhile. Tonight we are going up to Jordan Pines for dinner and games with our camping friends. All in all It's a Terrific Tuesday. Hope yours is too.
