Four Days without a Computer

I was amazed at how many times in a day I would think of things I needed the computer for--and no computer. Ours CRASHED big time! Hubby finally decided we needed a new one so he went and purchased one. He asked them if they could salvage our links and pictures. They said they could probably save some of it, but it costs $100. He was able to pick it up Friday night. We were gone all day Saturday on a boating party at Pineview Reservior. That was a lot of fun. It was also our 41st Wedding Anniversary. I got one dozen beautiful red roses, some sewing stuff, and Wolfgang Puck cutlery (awesome).
That meant we didn't have time to work on the computer until after we got home at 8 pm. Frank got the Sunday program done and we called it a day. Sunday evening our son and his family came. He is a computer whiz. He checked it out and helped set up our e-mail accounts, facebook, and other links. But he said they hadn't salvaged our links or pictures. He did it for us! I still struggle a little trying to get the computer to do what I want, but I'm back on the computer. And our son went with Hubby today and showed them that they hadn't given us what we had paid for and they gave us a refund. Hopefully, we can get back in the grove and figure out what to do. Thank goodness for computers. I did not like being without it.

Catch Up Day

I loved walking every day.

Beautiful scenery Our camp area--no one else was in the camp except the Camp Hosts
Frank at our campsite. We enjoyed playing games at night with our friends. During the day we played games, rested, walked, and read. I'm a little slow getting these posted, but today's the day. I enjoyed my Visiting Teaching group last night. Today I tended a granddaughter for a few hours and then went to Olive Garden with dear friends. This afternoon I've gone to the store (twice) and did some cooking. I still haven't done today's chores, but there are still a few hours left to get done. Then hopefully I will be caught up---lol

What makes a good attitude

For a few days last week I really struggled with writing, cleaning, doing. My attitude this week is a big change for the better. I know that one of the reasons is having more to do each day. When I am busy, I seem to get more done and enjoy it more. I also love checking items off of a list, so my planner has more things listed for each day. Some of the things are things I've procrastinated but need to do. Others are new interests that I want to do. I have also tried to better organize my daily chores a little bit better. Anyway, I'm enjoying my days this week.
Last night we went to "The Scarlet Pimpernel" at Hale Theatre. It was delightful! Beautiful production. I also noticed President Uchdorf and some of this family there. He is so good looking, and was gracious and warm to those who talked to him. I just watched from a distance, and enjoyed his sweet spirit.
This morning I attended my first quilting club meeting and had an enjoyable time there too. I have a lot to learn, and it sparked my desire to keep learning. I have my sewing table and materials in the spare bedroom, which I don't think will be used for a guest room in the near future. Who knows?
Tonight is our visiting teaching dinner and we always have fun. Hmm...what shall I serve???
Off to get some things done so I can check them off my list. Have a great Tuesday.

First Day of School

Richard and Sharon Kesler
Bev and Delia
Sue and Judy--Sue got mad because her eyes were closed so we took another one.

Sandy and LaVon
All of us

All of us taken by the people at the next table.
Sue and Judy--Sue kept her eyes open this time.

I remember past years scurrying around trying to get me and my kids ready for the first day of school. Today I am thankful that I could get up and go for a beautiful walk and not worry about being on time. I also completed some of my Monday chores before going with some of my retired friends for breakfast at IHOP. We had a great time reminicing about school days and laughing like we were playing hookey. It was delightful to catch up on what others were doing now that they can choose how they use their time. When I came home, it was almost fun to get more chores done and decide what to do next. Tonight we are going to Hale Theatre to see "The Scarlett Pimpernel". That includes dinner out, probably at Sizzler's. I hope your day was just as delightful.

The Frog????

Mark Twain once said that if the worst thing you did all day was eat a frog then life was good. When I refer to "the frog" it is the worst thing I have to do for the day. Once that is over my day is good. Sometimes my frog is exercise--sometimes it's just writing on my blog. Today There is no frog to eat so it must be a pretty good day!. I have a busy week coming up, so maybe that will help shake out the cobwebs and get me going. I've been sharing my car with my son the past three weeks, but Tuesday he gets his "New" car to drive. Then I will have mine back. Yesterday he bought a used car and they will detail it and put on new tires. That will be good for both of us. I hope you have good things too.

Not much to say

Everything is going well. I tended two grandchildren for a few hours yesterday, and got some things done. Today I attended a funeral for a special man in our neighborhood. There were people there who had probably never attended our Church. He touched so many lives. I, however, feel I'm not accomplishing much at the moment. I guess I need to get rejuvenated. That's my new project. Hmmm...where's that frog? I need to eat a frog. Then everything will be better.

Onward

My good friend picked me up and we got our hair done. That's a free psychiatry session too. We are so blessed to be able to share our thoughts and feelings with someone we can trust. I got my basic work done and enjoyed some of my personal choice time. I decided we need to do that a little more often. I even took a nap, much needed today. We had our personal financial planner come and go over our portfolio. We lost money with the recession, but it is showing some gains. I hope that is good news. These days you can't really tell. Tonight is our Ward Family Night and we have a special presentation. I'm looking forward to a lovely evening. I hope you are too.

Another great camping trip

We left early Monday morning and headed up Big Cottonwood canyon again. We stayed in an area with no other campers--just the camp hosts who invited us. It was so beautiful. Frank took Monday off and we went for walks, played games, took naps and really enjoyed the day. We invited the camp hosts to dinner and then played Hand and Foot and Phase 10. So much fun! I took good walks every day and really relaxed. Frank worked Tuesday and Wednesday, but came back in the afternoons. We went to the camp hosts for dinner and Harold and Beth came up. Delightful evening. The only thing I missed was not seeing any deer or moose. Now back to a "regular" schedule. Good to be back.

Is it just me, or is time on fast forward?

Travis and Jared making awesome omelets!!!
Frank making delicious pancakes!!!
Alan and Kari giving Jeff a bad time.

Getting wonderful food. Geogia is in the light pink. She just got home from her mission in Nauvoo.

Bret and Alan enjoying a visit. This is Alan's first Spruces trip in a few years and it was so nice to have he and Kari come.

The days seem to be flying by. This week has disappeared too quickly. Maybe we realize summer isn't sticking around to much longer and we have to cram our days with all that we can. I for one am going to enjoy all I can while summer is still here. Therefore, we are headed back to the canyon and a few quiet days. I am going to post a few more Spruces pictures and then when I get back I can show our next camp. Life is beautiful! By the way, thanks to my little blog angel for sprucing up my page! I LOVE it!! I hope your coming week is beautiful too!!!

I still need help organizing my pictures.
Amie says I can delete pictures if I want, but I still need to figure it out. More to learn! I really enjoy conquering my failures, so thanks for your patience.

I didn't sleep well last night, so I went through my Spruces pictures. Hopefully I'll be a little more organized. We are getting ready to go camping again next week. Yay! Today I'll post pictures of my children and grandchildren. I know Amie will enjoy that and I hope you do too.

Trying to catch potguts with a trap--actually this isn't the picture I wanted, but Oh Well
The Mills men starting dinner

Michael Mills and his "stilts"

This isn't what I thought it was either. Need to go through pictures again. We did have a lot of fun.

I might not get much time to blog today, but here goes my try. I'm trying to get through Spruces pictures, but its kind of slow. We had lots of activities to keep us entertained. We had about 80 for dinner on Friday night. It was so fun to visit and laugh together in this beautiful place. We liked it so much Frank and I are going back next week for a few days.

The Perfect Mousetrap

This chipmunk is inspecting our mousetrap. HE didn't get caught in it!
Our camp host friends had told us that there were a lot of mice in the campsites this year. They told us of the mousetrap they used and how effective it was. The first night of our vacation we could hear critters trying to get in our motorhome. The second night we could hear them rustling paper inside. Even though we turned on all the lights, we couldn't find them. In the morning we found a half eaten granola bar and a hole in the chocolate bar bag. Frank went and borrowed the mousetrap from our friends and we also got traditional mousetraps for inside the motorhome. We had caught two mice in the traditional traps before we went to bed. In the morning we found ten in the other trap. The next day we went to the valley to buy corn on the cob and a few other necessities for our Friday night dinner. Frank stopped at Lowe's and bought supplies to make four more mousetraps. It consists of a bucket with holes drilled near the top. A dowel is placed in the holes with a can on it--holes also drilled in the can so it rotates on the dowel. You put peanut butter on the can. When they climb up a board or towel you place there, they have to jump to the can to get the peanut butter. The can rotates and they fall into the bucket where you have six inches of water. Voila! You can get lots of mice in one trap.We used them for the rest of our trip--only caught a few more so for now that area doesn't have as many mice. Our son took one with him because they have a field across the street from their home and it had just been plowed. They have seen mice in their home and this was a great solution for getting rid of them. It may seem like and odd blog, but it was an interesting experience

Beautiful Sunrise

I was awake early enough to enjoy the sunrise during my walk. I even added two blocks and finished five minutes later than yesterday. I am enjoying my new schedule.
The challenge is to keep it up. Take it one day at a time, girl. I also am pleased to have more energy and willingness to work in the mornings. I reluctantly washed the little fingerprints off my curio cabinet today. It's been six weeks and I haven't had the heart to clean them off before now. I really overhauled my schedule after my vacation and I feel rejuvinated. That's what a vacation is for, right? Hopefully I will have time to download my camera pictures tonight and add some of them to my blog. Vacation pictures are fun to share--hopefully not to bore you.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Beautiful, busy Sabbath

We were up early and took a beautiful drive to Payson to hear our sister-in-law report on her mission to Nauvoo. There was a lovely spirit and good lessons to learn. She told of a lady who came into Lands and Records While she was working there. She was positive her ancestors had lived in Nauvoo, but couldn't find any information. Georgia tried to help her get started on a computer. After awhile the lady came back, almost in tears, saying she just couldn't find her. There was an elder at the other computer working on his genealogy. He walked over and asked the name she was looking for. When she said the name his eyes opened wide in surprise. "She is my relative too." He said he had stories, journals, graphs, and history that he would be willing to share with her. He took her name and address so he could get all the info to her. Just coincidence? Georgia called it one of the Nauvoo miracles--and said she saw many while she served there.
We also enjoyed our home ward meetings today. There are some awesome members that we learn from each week. We were reminded that apathy can steal our testimonies if we are not vigilant. I have been reorganizing my plans for the week so that I have my priorities straight. We are also looking forward to some family time tonight. Beautiful, busy, blessed day.

Our Spruces week

Just a quick not to say our week was great. We hated to come home. We will go back in a few weeks to enjoy the beautiful mountains--even though we had some rainy days. Did see a moose and her two little ones. I have lots of pictures that I will share during the week.

early morning pondering

Haven't been able to sleep so I decided to write a few of my thoughts before we leave on vacation. We packed most of the food last night and now we are just trying to get the last minute stuff done. I love the mountains and am looking forward to the squirrels, chipmunks, and hopefully deer and moose. The best part is being with family--visiting, eating, walking, playing games, and RESTING. Hope your week is a good one!

Busy days

Boy time flies when you're having fun. Yesterday I took the day to plan menus and master grocery lists, check to see what we already had, get personal items ready, an hour to post pictures on facebook and my blog, clean, and change the living room decor. Today I started moving pretty well. I was fixing breakfast and was trying to reach something in the back of the fridge. I moved one item and the leftover spaghetti from last night came crashing out of the fridge. The lid came off and I had spaghetti all over ME and the floor. Thank heavens the laundry had just started and Frank put my clothes in so they wouldn't stain. Oh, well. After breakfast I went to the grocery store. How can two people eat so much food? Then I had to go to another store to get items I couldn't get at the first one. I have started packing and will do some of the cooking ahead this afternoon. I also need to make two salads for Break the Fast after Church tomorrow. I also have a viewing for a cousin who died. Then Monday we go to Genola, Utah for a funeral. The Spruces will be a welcome change. It will be all worth the preparation.
I was reminded that we not only had a wedding last year, but a funeral also. I hope this is not becoming a yearly tradition.
