The Perfect Mousetrap

This chipmunk is inspecting our mousetrap. HE didn't get caught in it!
Our camp host friends had told us that there were a lot of mice in the campsites this year. They told us of the mousetrap they used and how effective it was. The first night of our vacation we could hear critters trying to get in our motorhome. The second night we could hear them rustling paper inside. Even though we turned on all the lights, we couldn't find them. In the morning we found a half eaten granola bar and a hole in the chocolate bar bag. Frank went and borrowed the mousetrap from our friends and we also got traditional mousetraps for inside the motorhome. We had caught two mice in the traditional traps before we went to bed. In the morning we found ten in the other trap. The next day we went to the valley to buy corn on the cob and a few other necessities for our Friday night dinner. Frank stopped at Lowe's and bought supplies to make four more mousetraps. It consists of a bucket with holes drilled near the top. A dowel is placed in the holes with a can on it--holes also drilled in the can so it rotates on the dowel. You put peanut butter on the can. When they climb up a board or towel you place there, they have to jump to the can to get the peanut butter. The can rotates and they fall into the bucket where you have six inches of water. Voila! You can get lots of mice in one trap.We used them for the rest of our trip--only caught a few more so for now that area doesn't have as many mice. Our son took one with him because they have a field across the street from their home and it had just been plowed. They have seen mice in their home and this was a great solution for getting rid of them. It may seem like and odd blog, but it was an interesting experience

They've always said the best mouse trap has yet to be invented and this looks like it is ranking right up there with it. How creative. Thanks for sharing. Love, Bev
